At the break: Royals basketball
The Douglas Royals women’s basketball team will head into the holiday break with a record that looks a little different compared to the rest of the conference. They are currently 2-1 with only 3 games played; 5 less than the rest of the league who have already completed 8 games (minus the Okanagan Coyotes) due to a series of postponed matches. Although the Royals men have yet to attain a win under their belt this season, after 4 games played the team has shown great energy and fight, coming out to each game with a yearn to win and play their best on the court.

However, the women have in no way been behind in terms of play. Players within the immensely young squad have already begun to make a name for themselves, including forward Laini Glover who currently ranks second in the PACWEST conference averaging 22.0 points per game, and first in rebounds with a 14.0 average per game. The rookie's best game of the season so far saw her tally up an impressive 31 points and 16 rebounds in Douglas' victory over Langara in early November. She also received a nomination for PACWEST Player of the Week last month.
First-year guard Jenessa Knapp sits right behind Glover on the leaderboard with a current 19.00 average in points per game. She was a huge contributor to the Royals' lengthy win over the Falcons at their second matchup against each other in November, scoring 18 points on the night.
