The Dougalas College Royals are proud to announce the 2019-2020 women's volleyball recruiting class. These ladies will add to an impressive core of returning athletes that posted an 18-6 regular season record, good for a silver finish at the PACWEST championships and a spot in the CCAA National Championship tournament. Welcome Jayce Day, Abbie Smith, Grace McGillivray, Rebecca Green, Sienna Mastromonaco, Sam Dodds to the PRIDE!

 

Abbie Smith

High School: Holy Cross Regional High School
Hometown: Surrey, BC
Why did you choose Douglas College: I chose Douglas College because of the great reputation it has and I knew that the volleyball program is strong and competitive and would help me take my game to the next level.
What are your goals for next year: My goals for this next season are to get into the weight room more and get stronger to improve my game and make me more of an impact player.
Coach's Thoughts: "Abbie is an athletic & smart middle blocker.  She is a calm and composed athlete who works extremely hard and we look forward to watching her develop into a premier middle in the PACWEST"

Grace McGillivray

High School: Langley Fundamental Middle and Secondary School
Hometown: Langley, BC
Why did you choose Douglas College: I chose Douglas because of the great team atmosphere and the great academics.
What are your goals for next year: My goals for next season are to excel in the classroom and develop my skills and strength to help my team reach a championship.
Coach's Thoughts: "Grace is a smart and powerful outside hitter. She is versatile and can play multiple positions and has strong character. We look forward to seeing her continue to develop into a great player."

Sienna Mastromonaco

High School: Saint Thomas More Collegiate
Hometown: Burnaby, BC
Why did you choose Douglas College: I really like the coaching and the players. Everyone made me feel welcome from the first the practice and it felt like a good fit for me.
What are your goals for next year: Constant improvement and to win a gold medal at nationals in my rookie year.
Coach's Thoughts: "Sienna s a very technical player with a high Volleyball IQ. She brings a lot of competitive fire, character & outstanding work ethic to our program. "

Jayce Day

High School: Edmonton Christian High School
Hometown: Edmonton, AB
Why did you choose Douglas College: For the volleyball program and academics.
What are your goals for next year: To increase my vertical, to have consistent set location, to become more mentally strong and to win!!
Coach's Thoughts: "Jayce is a very determined and smart setter. She brings a lot of competitiveness, character and a strong work ethic to the program. We look forward to seeing her develop into a great athlete in the PACWEST."

Rebecca Green

High School: Mark R. Isfeld Secondary
Hometown: Courtenay, BC
Why did you choose Douglas College: An excellent athletic and academic program that's situated in a great location.
What are your goals for next year: My goals for next season are to continue to improve as a volleyball player while maintaining my academic expectations.
Coach's Thoughts: "Rebecca brings a lot of character and work ethic into our program. Her athleticism allows her be very versatile. We look forward to seeing how she develops at Douglas."

Sam Dodds

Previous Institution: NAIT
Hometown: Barrhead, AB
Why did you choose Douglas College: For the programs.
What are your goals for next year: Win Nationals.
Coach's Thoughts: "Sam is a strong and athletic middle blocker. Her 3 years of experience in the ACAC will bring a lot of knowledge to our team and we look forward to seeing her excel in our environment."
