It was a good weekend for our Royals with solid performances all around, as they wrap up their final home games for 2015.
It was a tight game between the women's basketball team and CBC. The Royals lead 31-24 at the half, and went on to top the Bearcats 52-48. On Saturday, the women were able to double KPU in a comfortable 82-40 win. The ladies have had a very strong start in the first half of the season, sitting tied for second in the PACWEST with 12 points and a 6-1 record.
CBC proved to be a tough matchup for the men's basketball team as well; however, the Royals were able to take a 10 point lead by halftime. The Bearcats almost managed to close the gap, but Douglas took the game 81-79 in their first win of the season. KPU also proved to be a weak opponent for the men's team, as the Royals dominated and came out with an 89-54 win.
The women's volleyball team battled hard against VIU on Friday. They won the first set 25-21, but then went on to lose the following 3 sets in a defeat to the Mariners. On Saturday, the ladies lost the first 2 sets but fought back to win the following 2 sets, 26-24 and 25-17. Unfortunately, they couldn't keep the momentum going in the 5th as the Mariners took the set 15-6.
Men's volleyball also took on the Mariners on Friday night, winning 3 straight sets to take the game 3-1. VIU came back on Saturday looking for revenge, and ultimately got it, taking the 4th set 25-15, and the game 3-1. The men's volleyball team has had a solid start to the season and currently sits in second place in the PACWEST with 14 points.
